Award-winning restaurant Don Giovanni is the oldest independently-owned Italian in Manchester, established in 1984. We’ve proudly been serving fresh, high-quality authentic Italian meals to the people of Manchester for over thirty years.
We are located on Oxford Street adjacent to St Peter’s Square tram stop in the heart of Manchester city centre. In the late 1800’s thousands of Italians made new homes amongst the mills and factories in the run down area of Manchester city centre. Don Giovanni was created by the families of those inhabitants over thirty years ago and became the pioneers of modern day Italian food: introducing generations of Mancunians to real Italian cuisine.
Fast forward three decades and we’re here still with a string of awards under our belt, plus a new selection of Michelin star dishes from celebrity Italian-French chef Jean Christophe Novelli available. At Don Giovanni we integrate traditional Italian culture into every dish we create, making all of our own pizza, bread, ravioli and desserts freshly in house.
We are based on a very simple principle. All of our dishes are prepared using the freshest seasonal ingredients, sourced locally from Italian and British producers based within Greater Manchester. Our head chef regularly scours the local markets for new ingredients and inspirations for our often-changing A La Carte menu.
In true Italian style our menus are designed to showcase freshness and quality first and foremost. All of our food is cooked fresh to order in our open plan kitchen and we have recently installed a marble dessert and pasta section in our front window where you can see your food being created by our real Italian chefs.
